Good bedroom feng shui is an alternative way that many people believe ensures high-quality sleep. With the quantity of your sleep enhanced you can expect to wake up feeling refreshed; and ready to take on the world. However, if this is not your story, your bedroom feng shui is probably in need of attention.

If you still have no idea of what I’m talking about, here is a breakdown. Feng shui is a celebrated ancient Chinese art or method of balancing energies in your space.

How you lay out a room and decorate it can determine whether you are getting the right ‘chi’ or energy. The ancient Chinese art banks on using all your resources and space to improve your health and wealth.

This article gives you some bedroom feng shui tips that will improve your sleep and significantly reduce your stress.

1. The location of your bedroom matters greatly

Applying feng shui practices even as you choose the location of your bedroom is important. To begin with, your bedroom should be located at the furthest end of the house. This could be near the backyard away from the street and front doors. This will provide you with good privacy for better sleep.

Other places to avoid having your bedroom are on top of a garage, on top of kitchen stoves; among others.

2. Do not go for a very large bedroom

The size of your bedroom matters a lot. Oversized bedrooms can leave you feeling tired upon waking up. This is mainly because sleeping involves letting go and trusting that your surrounding will keep you safe. Our instincts will inform us that it is harder to take full control of a larger room. This is the premise behind not getting good feng shui from a very large bedroom.

3. Position your bed effectively

Proper placement of your bed can enhance good feng shui. The first thing to do is to make sure you have a sense of security. In this regard, the headboard must be against a wall. This way, you will feel better protected, and this will work to improve your sleep. Placing a bed directly below a window will do the opposite.

Also, avoid placing the headboard against a toilet wall; you want good fresh thoughts as you fall asleep.

Bedroom Feng Shui Tips

4. Avoid hanging things above your bed

Some people will have chandeliers hanging right over their beds. This is definitely the wrong thing to do. Proper bedroom feng shui will require that the space above you remain clear and spacious. This way, you will not worry about something landing on you at night.

Large pieces of furniture right beside your bed will also interfere with the energy. Keep it as light as possible.

5. Computers and televisions should never be in the bedroom

Some people have no choice but to take their work home. However, this does not mean that you place computers in your bedroom. TVs and other electronics will not allow your mind to rest properly. In this regard, let your bedroom be a tranquil retreat.

6. Your bedroom lighting should be dim

Bright lights with bright colors in your bedroom will spell bad bedroom feng shui. Dim, soothing colors, on the other hand, are relaxing to set the mood and tone for sleep. Light can cause sleepless nights and to this end, be very keen to use dim light and to turn off the lights accordingly as you settle for bed.

7. No plants should be in your bedroom

Even if you want to adopt a green bedroom, stay away from having plants in your bedroom. They will lower the quality of your sleep, and this is how they do that. Plants will release more carbon dioxide at night as they grow taller. This will reduce the oxygen in your room and compromise the quality of your sleep.

Plants can also attract insects like spiders and the thought of something crawling up your bedding at night can be disturbing for many.

8. There should be clear, clutter-free space under your bed

Have you seen beds that are full of clutter underneath? Items stored down there can have chaotic energies, and this can be transferred to you while you sleep. Proper bedroom feng shui demands that you keep this space free and spacious so that positive energy can flow to enhance your sleep. This will also go a long way in reducing stress. Cleaning up and keeping your bedroom neat is the way to go.
